Ziauddin Yousafzai (born in 1969 in Shangla, Pakistan)
is a schoolteacher, an advocate for girls’ right to education, and father of Nobel Prize winner Malala Yousafzai. He has fought a lifelong battle for girls’ rights to education, particularly against the Taliban.
Ziauddin is the co-founder of the Malala Foundation and the UN’s special advisor for global education. In 2015, he received an honorary doctorate from Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Canada. In 2017, both Ziauddin and Malala received honorary doctorates from the University of Ottawa. Ziauddin Yousafzai published the autobiography Let Her Fly in 2018.
