Rhobi Samwelly (born in 1972 in Tanzania)

is a women’s rights advocate and founder and director of the organization Hope for Girls and Women, Tanzania. Rhobi Samwelly has been fighting against Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) since a young age. In 2017, she established Hope for Girls and Women, an association providing safe houses and support for young girls who have fled to avoid FGM.

The organization educates the girls in the safe houses during the ‘cutting season’ in December and January until they can either be reunited with their families or start boarding school.
