Marta Alanis (born in 1949 in Argentina)

is an activist, organizer, and founder of Catholics for Choice in Argentina in 1991. Catholics for Choice is an organization that advocates for women’s reproductive health and the right to abortion. Marta is the originator of the green scarf and one of the main organizers behind the ‘Green Wave’ movement, which led the largest demonstrations in Argentina’s history preceding the country’s new abortion legislation.
